The 2024 edition of the Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition promises to be a landmark event, with 120 participants from 31 countries, confirming its status as a major platform for emerging pianistic talent. With a more ambitious international outlook, this year’s edition triples the number of applications compared to 2023 and introduces a renewed program: prize money increased to €35,000, the new “Ricard Viñes Award” for the most innovative pianist, an international jury, and new partnerships with renowned international festivals.
As part of its commitment to fostering creativity and promoting new talent, the Vera Musica Foundation is supporting the competition this year, which for the first time requires contestants to perform a piece by a living composer — Catalan composer Marc Migó.
Organized by the Lleida City Council, the competition will take place from June 24 to 28 at the Auditori Enric Granados. The semifinal will be held on June 26, and the public final on June 28 at 7 p.m.
